□ よくある質問
「〜をする」という意味の make と do の目的語に違いはあるのでしょうか？
make a mistake を do a mistake とすると間違いでしょうか？
□ 説明
do と make の違いを考えてください。
You can do it.
You can make it.
doは「何かの活動を行う」という場合、
makeは「何かを生じさせる」「生み出す」という場合に用います。
例えば、
What are you doing? （何をしているのですか？）
I'm doing shopping. （ショッピングをしています。））
What are you making? （何を作っているのですか？）
I'm making a cake. （ケーキを作っています）
もう一つ例で考えて見ましょう。
You can do it.
You can make it.
You can do it. （あなたはそれをすることが出来ます。）
You can make it. （あなたはそれを成し遂げる―作り上げる―ことが出来ます。）
□ do が使われる名詞、make が使われる名詞の[例]

これらの名詞でdoとmakeを入れ替えて使うと間違いです。
□ 余談
先日ブラジルに「せんべい」を送りました。
air便で郵便局から送る場合、伝票に英語か現地語で品名を書かなければなりません。
「せんべい」って、英語で何と言うのかとっさに思いつかず、cake と書いて送りました。
帰って、辞書で調べると、
rice cookie,
Japanese (rice) cracker,
wafer,
crumpet などと出ていました。
ついでに、「あられ」と「おかき」は、
あられ
rice-cake pellets,
sweetened rice-flour cakes、
grilled bits of rice cake
おかき
mochi cut thin, dried, and baked or fried

１．「せんべい」と「おかき」はどう違うのでしょうか？
２．「おかき」と「あられ」はどう違うのでしょうか？
クイズの答
１．「せんべい」はうるち米（普通主食に食べている米）、「おかき」と「あられ」はもち米からできている。
２．「おかき」と「あられ」は、どちらも原料はもち米。
あられはもち米を炒ったもの、おかきは餅をかいて干し、焼いたものが始まりだそうですが、
現在では、呼び分けの明確なの違いは無くなっているようで、
小粒のが「あられ」で若干大きめのサイズが「おかき」と呼んでいるようです。
