11/16/98　    道を尋ねる　−　道に迷ったとき

　　外国で道に迷うことはよく有ることです。
　　聞かずに何とかしょうとすると却って分からなくなってしまうことが
　　あります。

 ☆ 切り出し方
　　
　　Excuse me, but 〜　　
    I'm sorry to trouble you, but 〜　

　　そのあと、

　　Could you tell me the way to (Hilton Hotel) ? 
　　Would you tell me the way to (Hilton Hotel) ?
    Would you tell me how I can get to (Hilton Hotel) ?

　　などと、Could you,  Would you, Could you please, would you please
　　と丁寧な表現で尋ねる。

 ☆ 道に迷ったのです

　　Excuse me, I'm lost my way.
    Excuse me, I think I'm lost my way.
　　Excuse me, I'm lost my way. Where am I now ?

 ☆ 通りの名前を聞く

　　現在地の通りの名前が分らなくなってしまったので捜せない時。

　　Where does this street lead to ?
    (この通りはどこに出ますか)

　　What's the name of this street ?
    What street is this ?

 ☆ 方向を聞く

　　Which way is south ?
    (どちらが南ですか)

 ☆ 地図を見せてたずねる

　　地図は必ず持って出ましょう。
　　レンタカーを借りるときは必ず地図はもらいましょう。

　　Where am I now on this map?
　　Please show me where I am on this map?

 ☆ 住所を示してたずねる

　　Would you have any idea where this address is ?
    How can I get to this address ?
    How can I get to this place ?
　　How can I find his address (place) ?

 ☆ この辺ははじめてなんです

    I'm astranger here.
　　I'm not familiar with this area.

ショッピング・センター、ショッピング・モールなどに行っても
自分の車をどこに置いたか分からなくなることがあります。
慣れない場所だし、あまりにも広い駐車場で出口も色々あるので
余程、目印をしっかりしておかないと、困り果てることになりか
ねません。
