　先日ラジオの英会話を聞いていたら rummage [ラミッジ] と いう
　私には耳慣れない単語が出てきた。

　rummage through で「かきまわして捜す」という意味だそうです。

　英英辞典では

　to turn things over and look into all the corners while trying
  to find something, especially causing disorder.

　　He is rummaging through his pocket.
    彼はポケットの中をごそごそ捜している。

　　Who has been rummaging through my papers?
    誰が私の書類を掻きまわしたのですか？
