I will only be here
Until the time of "Bon”.
After that I will leave.
The sooner it arrives,
The sooner I can go home.


I am a poor slave.
My masters are richi;
They wear fine kimonos
with fine sashes.


Who will cry for me
If I die?
Only the cicadas
On yonder pine mountain.


But who is crying now?
Not cicadas
But my little sister,
Sent here to toil
The same as me.
