☆ mature と mellow 

"She's matured without mellowing," という文にであった。

辞書で調べても mature と mellow の区別が分からなかった。
さっそく、アメリカ人に聞いてみた。

 Matured means that she has become more "adult"-- maybe in physical
 features or in attitude.  Mellow means that a person is calm, and not
 overbearing.  Sometimes young people are very aggressive and do
 not think about what they are saying before they talk.  When they
 mature, they get more mellow also.  In this case, the woman has
 matured, but still is aggressive in nature.

 （注）overbearing : 横柄な、いばりちらす。
       aggressive  : 積極的な、意欲的な、攻撃的な。
                     通常、いい意味で「積極的な」という意味でつかっていたが
                     ある時、オーストラリアの女性に「aggressive」をつかったら
                     大変いやな顔をされた。「攻撃的な」という意味にとったのだと思う。

上の説明をよく読み辞書と照らし合わせてみると、どうやら、
mature は 「肉体的に成人となった」とか「その態度が大人らしい」で、
mellow は「人格が円満な」ととったら良いのでは・・。
