Arima-san, these are all very unusual games:

 1. 3 legged race:
   - two people teams
  - the people stand next to each other (facing the same direction).
Their legs closest to each other (ie, the right person's left leg, and the
left person's right leg) are tied together. Therefore, together, they
have "3 legs" (the right person's right leg, the "leg in the middle"
[which is their tied inner legs], and the left person's left leg]).
   - the teams race, maybe 50 meters.
   - the fastest team wins.
 2. Sand volleyball
   - this is just like regular volleyball, except played in the sand. This
is played on beaches-- I saw this in Tokyo at Odaiba.

 3. Horseshoes
   - as you may know, horses wear steel shoes, in a U shape.
   - This is a game where two individuals compete. They stand roughly
     25 meters from a 2 foot pole.
   - Each throws horse shoes and tries to get the shoe to land "around" the
pole. Each has roughly 3 shoes to throw in a turn.
   - For getting shoes to land around the pole, or lean against the pole,
the person gets points. The first person to total 10 points (or 15,
or whatever is agreed upon) wins.

 Best regards,
 Bruce

PS, the 3 legged game and horseshoes are old games-- from 1800's or before.
Sand volleyball started (I think) in California in the 1960's.

    要するに、three legged game は、二人三脚。 sand volleyball は、

    ビーチバレー、horseshoes は、輪投げに似た馬の蹄鉄投げゲームなのでした。
