総裁選において、世論と自民党との人選は全く逆の結果になった。
今日、テレビに自民党の若手議員が登場したが、全く若手としての弾力性
がない。議員は発想や考え方が老化し錆び付いてしまっているのだろうか。

Japanese Foreign Minister Keizo Obuchi is expected to be named the country's  
next prime minister Friday by Japan's Liberal Democratic Party. But he's not  
the public's first choice, polls show. Japan's Kyodo News Service reported    
that Obuchi had "close to 200 delegates." At least 208 are needed in the LDP  
to win. The LDP, which holds a majority in Japan's parliament, is expected to 
rubber-stamp Obuchi's nomination at the end of the month. Regarded as a       
consensus builder, Obuchi has denounced his critics and vows to lead Japan out
of its deep recession.
